Keanu Reeves Reunites with John Wick's Director for New Action Film Cipher; Full Synopsis Revealed (Exclusive)

John Wick 5 may never happen, but the star and director from all four Wick films are reuniting.

Keanu Reeves will star in Cipher with longtime partner Chad Stahelski, according to our reliable sources. Lionsgate will produce Cipher with Reeves and Stahelski, like Wick.

From the logline, Cipher will be in the same action genre as the John Wick films, but Keanu Reeves won't portray a tortured assassin.

Instead, he'll portray talented operator Alex Steele, who's racing against time to decrypt a sophisticated code that could stop a global cyber strike by a clandestine organization.

Cipher, with Keanu Reeves in the lead, could test Stahelski's directorial range. Many fans and critics will call the film a John Wick clone before it opens.

Stahelski, an action filmmaker with a particular style, must innovate to distinguish Cipher from the Wick films.

Before Cipher hits theaters, Stahelski will likely have plenty of opportunities to prove he can do more than direct puppy-mourning assassins.

The director is working on adaptations of Rainbow Six, Ghosts of Tsushima, Kill or be Killed, and Highlander.

Keanu Reeves has not yet granted Samuel L. Jackson's he wants in request for John Wick.
